Micah came home from working talking about Chicken Fried Hamburgers.

One of his coworkers had them for lunch and he was raving about how great they looked and smelled and could I please make some.

Follow up:

So I ask; What do the look like?

Umm, like Chicken Fried Hamburgers!

What's in Them?

I don't know it's like chicken Fried Steak, but a hamburger!

I figured that you can fry the Hamburgers just like you do Chicken Fried Steak. You just can’t go wrong battering and frying Meat at our house.

So I fried some up for dinner and let me tell you I think that I might even like these better than Chicken Fried Steak. The breading is crispy and when you add on the dipping sauce, perfection!

Ingredients :

2 Lbs. Ground Sirloin
3 Cups Flour
1/4 Cup Cabela's Open Season Whiskey Steak Seasoning
1/4 tsp Pepper
1 Tbsp. Paprika
3 Large Brown Eggs
1/2 Cup Whole Milk
6 Slices Swiss Cheese
1 Package Oroweat Sandwich Thins
French Fry Dipping Sauce
Canola Cooking Oil

1. Mix together Flour, Pepper, Paprika and Whiskey Steak Seasoning in a Medium size bowl.

  • The Whiskey Steak Seasoning you can get from Cabela's Outdoor store, if you don't have one close by than you can order it online or from their catalog.
  • Set aside.

2. Mix together Milk and Eggs in a medium size bowl.

  • Beat with a whisk until frothy.

3. Make Sirloin into 6 medium size patties.

  • I make them small so that they cook evenly.
  • Pour enough oil into a large Skillet to cover the pan about 1/4 inches thick.
  • Heat oil up to 350 degrees.

4. Set your bowl of Egg Mixture and bowl of Flour Mixture side by side

  • This makes it easier when preparing the burgers to be fried.
  • Dip the Burger into the Egg Mixture.
  • Then dip into the Flour Mixture, coating both sides.

Now do it all over again

  • Dip the burger into the Egg Mixture.
  • Then the Flour Mixture.
  • This gives it a double coating that sticks to the meat and the breading won't fall off during frying.

5. Put the battered Hamburgers into the Hot Skillet.

6. Fry the Burgers on each side for about 5 minutes or until browned.

  • Continue to flip the Burgers until they’re cooked on the inside.

7. While your Burgers are cooking get a large Plate and put 6 or 7 Paper Towels on the top and set by the Skillet.

  • Once cooked put the Chicken Fried Burgers on the plate with Paper Towels to drain.

8. Put your Sandwich Thins on a plate. I like these because they taste great without all of the extra bread.

9. Spread a thick layer of French Fry Sauce on each half of the Bun.

  • Then add one piece of Cheese.
  • And then your Hamburger Patty.

Put on a Plate and Enjoy!

Oh my, this looks delicious! I'm going to be making these soon. And I love those little "half buns," as I call them. I use them all the time.
