The second part of Micah's Birthday took place at the Fort Worth Stockyards
One of the attractions at the Stockyards is the Cattle Drive, which I’ve never seen before, even though I grew up here! I know there are so many things I’ve never done, like the Ripley's Wax Museum that I lived by for 6 years and never visited.
The Fort Worth Herd presents Stockyard visitors with a glimpse into the past and Fort Worth's rich western heritage with the world’s only twice daily cattle drive. In preserving its heritage as Cowtown, the City of Fort Worth has its own herd of 15 Texas Longhorns - one for each decade of Fort Worth’s 150-year history.
Here they come, right in front of the Livestock Exchange Building; You gotta love the golf cart in the back, So authentic. Do most herds travel with one? Sadly this golf cart’s not for pleasure it’s for the guy who scoops up the poo.
Follow up:
Look at these Longhorns, In all of their majesty, Some people see beauty others see a new wallet and matching purse.
"Hah" says the Cowboy "Come on now keep it moving” and makes the "click, Click" sound.
No time for slackers, you'll back up the herd.
This guy looks real tired, he just wants to graze and take a nap.
I think that these Longhorns can't read, the sign does say "Wrong Way".
So long for now, see you next time!
Oh yes we can't forget the Cowboy Clown, like clowns aren't scary enough to begin with, but now we add the cowboy getup and a pair of horns.
I can't believe this little girl isn't running away, so brave!
Ahh the last part of our adventure the wooden cutout to make Me and Micah look like cowboy’s, so realistic, Where's my neck?
So we say goodbye to Cowtown, and get on board the train with 3 pounds of Salt Water Taffy, Pop Rocks and Chick-a-Sticks and settle in for that long bumpy ride back to Grapevine.
